I attended a funeral of a man who died too young. The fact that his wife could give a eulogy three days after her husband’s death astounded me. But it was what she said that really blew me away.
Gwen told us that her husband often travelled – for business and pleasure. This had caused conflict in the earlier years of their marriage. Nowadays, she enjoyed it when he went away. Because she knew that it was what he needed to do to make him happy. And she loved giving him that happiness.
I hope I remember this lesson forever.

that is a beautiful lesson – that far too many people don’t see, or even think about when they are faced with it. we need to remember that a relationship consists of 2 separate individuals.
i like your blog
André, you’re quite right. My dad used to remind me of Gibran’s wise words: Let there be spaces in your togetherness.
Thanks for popping in – good to see you here!
